Mark Truhe - Matodi

How long have you been with Matodi?

Almost 7 years – started back in December 2014.

What was your first job?

I started out doing custodial work/cleaning office buildings in the Greensboro area.

What are the toughest challenges you’ve had at work?

When I was new to the industry, I had to learn all the ins and outs of the glass business, and as we all know that’s a lot of work.

Who inspired you to pursue the career you have today?

In the glass industry, I would have to say John Lloyd. I relied on him heavily in my first few years – I was soaking up as much knowledge as I could from his decades of wisdom in the business.

What would you do for a career if you weren’t doing this?

I probably would’ve been a history teacher.

What’s the coolest (or most important) industry trend you see today?

All the innovative automation – Robots are only cool until they try to take over the world.

What’s your secret talent no one knows about?

Not sure it’s a talent, but I can hold my own when it comes to Sports Trivia. I used to sit and read Trivial Pursuit cards when I was young (Nerd Alert!).

What is something you learned in the last week?

Laughter isn’t always the best medicine. Sometimes you actually need medicine. Three days of giggling didn’t cure my headache, so I took some ibuprofen. You live, you learn.

How do you define success?

This may sound cheesy, but success at my job is when I’m able to provide the right tools and service for my customer to succeed. Probably shouldn’t use a derivative of the word you’re defining in the actual definition, but I did anyways.

When you have 30 minutes of free time, how do you pass the time?

I enjoy shooting basketball with my son, playing board games with my daughter, or watching a TV show with my wife. Not in that order – my wife takes priority. Is she going to see this?

Fun fact or anything else you’d like to add!

Not really, you’ve been intrusive enough 😂
